Meet the Artist
I wake up every morning and look at the Potomac River. It soothes and excites me with the possibilities. Drawing inspiration from the local water views and country side, I paint primarily en Plein Air. The constant changing scenes, shifting seasons and weather create unique opportunities to study and learn more about the environment I live in. Plein Air painting captures the mood and feeling of a specific moment in time. Hoping to capture the sights, sounds and character of the landscape in each painting I work to share my love of nature and the Mid -Atlantic. Southern Maryland's unique landscape and agriculture provide opportunities to paint working and pleasure boats, tobacco farming history and beautiful skies at sunrise and sunset.
Having worked as a portrait artist for over 15 years I switched my focus to landscapes after my first diagnosis with Ovarian Cancer. Painting sustained me and allowed me to be more present with what is important and reinforce my beliefs that the beauty of nature is instrumental in healing us. When I reoccured and covid hit, outdoor painting was a safe haven. I hope that my paintings allow you to be drawn into the natural world that will heal and sustain you as well.
I have been greatly influenced by painters past and present.
